We are so quick to extinguish Your light in us Lord Jesus, when we choose to remain angry and spiteful when others hurt us. When we react with unforgiveness or plot out revenge. When we allow temptations and sins of the flesh to overpower us.
But You sweet Jesus are our hope and strength. Help to stay focused on You as we await Your return. Help us remain steadfast in Your love. And most of all, Jesus let Your light shine brightly within us, so that we may beacons for one another. We ask this in Your most precious name. Amen

Luke 12:35–38
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants.”
