On Today’s Gospel

How did I not hear Your call? Or Your Will for me in the Scriptures Lord? As it is written and proclaimed from the pulpit? Was I deaf and blinded by Sin? How could I not see the many signs of Yours for my direction? How could I be sorry without repentance or restitution? How did I think I could break my neighbour’s window, apologize but do nothing about its restoration?

I recall the day of my sweet surrender to You, my loving Lord, my God. You embraced me with Your love and opened by eyes and ears to Your divine Word. Praise be to You my Lord Jesus Christ.

Throughout the rest of my life Lord, let me spend time with You discerning Your Will for me. Let me never speak or act hastily, in times of distress or anger. Be quick to guide and lead me my dear Jesus. And having learnt from the errors of my ways, let me steer others away from the potholes of sin onto Your narrow path to salvation. Amen

GOSPEL
Luke 12:54–59

Jesus said to the crowds,
“When you see a cloud rising in the west you say immediately that it is going to rain–and so it does; and when you notice that the wind is blowing from the south you say that it is going to be hot–and so it is. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time?

“Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate, make an effort to settle the matter on the way; otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the constable, and the constable throw you into prison. I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”
