“For I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.”

Do you pray to your guardian Angel? If not why not?

Know this, that they are Blessings from God our Heavenly Father sent for our protection and to guide us on our pilgrim journey home to Him. And when we have lost our way and have strayed far from the presence of our Lord through our grievous sins, they continually intercede for us in His presence! And they strive to lead us back into His merciful arms.

Blessed are you, Holy Angel, since in His love for me, God has chosen you to take care of my life, you who from the first moment of my existence has never abandoned me, who day and night assists me to turn away from evil and help me to do good.

I give you thanks for what you have already done for me, and I ask you to continue to protect me. Be my help in my needs, my consolation in my sorrows, my support in my discouragements, defend me against the enemies of my salvation, remove from me the opportunities to sin, obtain for me the grace to be faithful and docile to you.

But above all, protect me at the hour of death, and do not leave me until you have brought me to my Lord.

O my guardian angel, since in his love the Lord has entrusted me to you, enlighten me, guide me, keep me and govern me.’ Amen

Baruch 4:5-12,27-29 ·

Take courage, my children, call on God

Take courage, my people,

constant reminder of Israel.

You were sold to the nations,

but not for extermination.

You provoked God;

and so were delivered to your enemies,

since you had angered your creator

by offering sacrifices to demons, not to God.

You had forgotten the eternal God who reared you.

You had also grieved Jerusalem who nursed you,

for when she saw the anger fall on you

from God, she said:

Listen, you neighbours of Zion:

God has sent me great sorrow.

I have seen my sons and daughters taken into captivity,

to which they have been sentenced by the Eternal.

I had reared them joyfully;

in tears, in sorrow, I watched them go away.

Do not, any of you, exult over me,

a widow, deserted by so many;

I suffer loneliness because of the sins of my own children,

who turned away from the Law of God.

Take courage, my children, call on God:

he who brought disaster on you will remember you.

As by your will you first strayed away from God,

so now turn back and search for him ten times as hard;

for as he brought down those disasters on you,

so will he rescue you and give you eternal joy.

Matthew 18:1-5,10

Anyone who welcomes a little child in my name welcomes me

The disciples came to Jesus and said, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ So he called a little child to him and set the child in front of them. Then he said, ‘I tell you solemnly, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. And so, the one who makes himself as little as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

    ‘Anyone who welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.’

We will never fathom the immeasurable greatness of God our Heavenly Father likewise the immeasurable love He has for us His children, individually as well as collectively. For having given us the most perfect and complete gift of His Son, our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, His advocate the Holy spirit, then sends yet again His Holy Angels to guard and guide us. While there is no defined teaching of Holy mother Church on the matter of our guardian angels, it is in her wisdom that we celebrate the feast day of God our Father’s wonderful gift of them for us.

“See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.”

Jesus my Lord You speak deeply into my heart, that I have not been humble enough to understand how just how loved and Blessed I am to be a child of God our Heavenly Father. While I maybe little, I am looked upon greatly in my Heavenly Father’s eyes. And so I should love and serve my fellow brethren in humble servitude after Your own heart; for they like me, are His beloved. Amen

O my guardian angel, I thank you for caring and helping me. Please pray for me…

The immeasurable greatness of God

From the heart of the tempest the Lord gave Job his answer. He said:

Have you ever in your life given orders to the morning or sent the dawn to its post, telling it to grasp the earth by its edges and shake the wicked out of it, when it changes the earth to sealing clay and dyes it as a man dyes clothes; stealing the light from wicked men and breaking the arm raised to strike?
Have you journeyed all the way to the sources of the sea, or walked where the Abyss is deepest?
Have you been shown the gates of Death or met the janitors of Shadowland?
Have you an inkling of the extent of the earth?
    Tell me all about it if you have!
Which is the way to the home of the light, and where does darkness live?
You could then show them the way to their proper places, or put them on the path to where they live!
If you know all this, you must have been born with them, you must be very old by now!

Job replied to the Lord:

My words have been frivolous: what can I reply?
    I had better lay my finger on my lips.
I have spoken once… I will not speak again; more than once… I will add nothing.

Lord have mercy on me for I am a child of the world. I have allowed myself to be become desensitized to and by the sex and violence in books, games, movies, television, the media. Have mercy on me Lord, for I have allowed myself to be drawn to the temptations and desires of the world.

Pray You sweet Jesus come to my aid for I do not want to be a child of the World even for a moment longer. I long to be and remain a child of God! My deepest desire is to honour You by the way I live my life. To be holy, humble and possess the innocent heart of a child of God. To be free to love and be loved. To welcome all God’s children in Your most Holy name.

Let us pray….

O God,
who in your unfathomable providence
are pleased to send your holy Angels to guard us,
hear our supplication as we cry to you,
that we may always be defended by their protection
and rejoice eternally in their company.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

GOSPEL
Matthew 18:1–5, 10

The disciples approached Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?” He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”
