Welcoming

In an effort to encourage growth within our small Christian community including a spiritual one I invited our members to welcome the congregation of Changi business park before the lunch time Eucharistic Celebration. Two ladies joined me. I then requested they share their experience.

Rose shared that it was a warm feeling to welcome them. Especially those she recognised as regulars but never had a chance to even say hi.

This is Tiffany’s sharing in her own words…

Sharing my thoughts as i stood at the door last Wed before Eucharistic Celebration welcoming the congregation….

when standing at the door that day, i am reminded of my visit to my granny’s Christian Church when we were asked to visit (for the first time) as they were having a ‘memorial service’ for all those departed in that month. the moment my aunt, brother & myself stepped out of the lift, the ushers at the door recognized that we were there for the first time. it was as if they knew every single person in that hall of about close to 100! they immediately asked us to write down our contact details put at a table nearby. they were warm; friendly immediately felt like home. i wondered then how many of us Catholics actually know if anyone in our congregation were there for the 1st time (be it at CPS or at our parish)? for me, i wouldn’t know!

how then can we build bonds in the community instead of just coming to Church every Sun just fulfilling our Sunday duties? this set me thinking …
